Kate Gengo set out to begin what she believed to be the future of women in
aggressive skating. Today her passion and loyalty to aggressive inline goes way
beyond a competitive attitude. After
seeing many talented girls in her travels, she realized a need for a corner
that the girls can connect with. So she
decided to dedicate her free time to promoting the girls skate scene the best
way she knew how. Her organization is
called “The Women’s Aggressive Skating Network” and that’s exactly what it is…A
Network. It’s a communication and
promotional network for girls.
The WASN is proud to present
“The
WASN Skate Fest 2000”
After producing
“ The First All-Women’s Skate festival” last summer, the WASN will continue to
bring a “ grass roots style feeling” to a one day event for women in aggressive
skating.
“Top Pros Kelly Mathews, Jenny Curry and Salima
Sanga judged the event, while the god father of aggressive skating, Chris
Edwards, served as the emcee and token male. The general consensus among the
participants was that the excitement equaled that of any male-dominated
competition” -Skating.com-8-5-99- Dan
Lombardi.
WASN is looking
for sponsorship for the 2Nd Annual WASN
skate Fest 2000. One big advantage is
the new women's TV network, Oxygen, is very interested in filming my event,
which might mean potential national coverage!
