Noise arising from wood ramps
Dear Hot Rails, I wonder if you can help me.
In my village called Woolton Hill in Hampshire England, we have a wooden half pipe, which has a plywood deck.
Sadly local residents are complaining about the noise of the wheels on the wood, and if we can't find a way to reduce the noise the ramp will have to close.
We had heard that there were plastic materials that would give lower noise than plywood. Do you know of these or have any other ideas about how to reduce the noise ?
We have a 161 families on a petition to keep the ramp open, and we have to find a solution. Hope to hear from you, and thank you in advance, Ashok

YOU WANTED ME TO WRITE ABOUT THE NISS COMPITITION.
WELL TO BE EXACT IT SUCKED HOW THEY DID IT THIS YEAR.
THEY LET 15 SKATERS ON FOR 15 MINUTES MOST OF THE TIME THE JUDGES ARETALKING TO EACH OTHER NOT EVEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THE SKATERS.
IT WAS BETTER TWO YEARS AGO. THEY LET YOU HAVE YOUR OWN RUN FOR ONE MINUTE - I GOT 20TH OUT OF 155 OTHER SKATERS BUT THIS YEAR I DIDNT GET TO EVEN KNOW WHAT PLACE I GOT.
THIS SUMMER IM GOING TO ENTER AGAIN AND HOPE TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT DAY AND TO PUT YOUR GUYS NAME ON THE CHART, GET YOU GUYS SOME BUSSINESS!
SINCERLY - YOUR SKATER SEAN
Thanks Sean - I'm sure when the NISS crew gets wind of this - they'll take your words to heart. To fill everyone in - we met Sean when both He and this website were young... ha ha.. We did a piece on him - Remember this?
I just got your e-mail and i think it would be cool to send you guys
It's cold now, but when it gets to be warm again you'll have your pictures. i am still working to get my skate park started, when i'm finished i'd like to do business with your company. thank you for all your time, Hank
Hi. I'm a 13 yr. old inliner from Portland, ME.
My parents said that when we paved our driveway, i could set up a personel skate park so that I could skate at home instead of always driving a half hour to the local park. I'd obviously still go there sometimes to hang and for more advanced equipment, but i'd now be able to skat after school, etc.
I stumbled upon your company and liked what I saw. Unfourtunately, I can't afford to buy all the equipment I want (My ideal home park is a fly box, hlf. pipe, pyramid, 1 or 2 qtr. pipes, a spine, and multiple different sized and shaped rails; expensive, huh?).
I will probably buy at least a rail or two off you, but I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to build things, where to get materials (besides the town dump), and what kind of metal and wood to use. It would be much apreciated.
Thank You! - Ari
OK - here's the deal . . Our plans are proprietary information - 30 years results in design and engineering - nobody builds the way we do - 'n that's why we get the parks that we do . . also we don't sell plans 'cause it costs too much to build a ramp that way . . You only build 1 at a time 'n pay through the nose - not to mention that we build our ramps different from everybody else - more like a house - not out of plywood - and now we're using the latest resins and polymers.
So your best bet would be to talk to Drew - he's at 973-283-2631.
Good luck Bro - and send me pics when you're all hooked up!
